Online B2B marketplace for hospitality industry
Online B2B marketplace for hospitality industry
We are building an online B2B marketplace for the hospitality industry, mainly for HoReCa (hotel, restaurant, café, bar, and resort) and event, celebration, wedding, decor, catering, floral, sound, lighting, and electronics industry products.
Decornt works on an aggregator model, where manufacturers list and sell their products, and users buy them online using an app and website. Our biggest unique selling proposition is that we created a transparent marketplace where buyers can make bulk and high-value purchases since we have simplified their buying experience through product customization, price negotiation, and protecting their order from payment to assure delivery.

The procurement of materials in the hospitality industry is highly unorganized, mainly because this industry has different products and different market concepts. The buyers' only option is to travel from different places to get these products, and the biggest problem in the market is buying products in bulk with customization, pricing negotiation, transportation, and delivery dates.
Kamal and I have been selling products for the hospitality industry for over 15 years, and we have personally faced many difficulties procuring the material as both buyers and sellers, and we have seen how customers travel with different products from different markets. Hence, we decided to solve this by building an online B2B marketplace.
In the HoReCa category, there is HorecaStop, which does direct procurement of products but mostly does offline, and in the Event Wedding category, there are many online sites, like Fern n' Petals, National Traders, Lamansh, etc., but either they have an offline store and sell their products online, or their core business is different and they sell limited category products to the retail market. so they could be considered indirect competition.
Business Understanding:
With our years of experience and knowledge, we have a deep understanding of the market ecosystem and strong networks of sellers and manufacturers. We know the product's life cycle, its age, and its durability, as well as which products are most suited for which occasion and season. Our biggest strength is our understanding of our customers, their product preferences, and their purchasing power, which varies by metro, tier-one, and tier-two city. A customer from Bangalore has different product requirements than a customer from Delhi.
We charge a percentage commission on every product sold, as well as membership fees for gold customers.
Only in India is the current HORECA and Event Wedding industry worth more than $100 billion.
We set a revenue target of $ 608 thousand in 2023, $1.8 million in 2024, and $ 5.5 million in 2025
.
The first-mover advantage, combined with the growing market opportunity and our team's expertise in the hospitality industry, makes this a realistic target.

Congrats on building a successful business guys!
The biggest question I'd have is - why do you need to join YC? What makes you a startup vs. a modern business?
Hope that feedback helps!
